Naomi Watts to Receive Donostia Award at San Sebastián Film Festival

The San Sebastián Film Festival announced it will present its Donostia Award, one of the highest honors in Spanish cinema, to actress Naomi Watts at this year's edition. The two-time Oscar nominee, who broke out internationally in David Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive,' will receive the award at a gala ceremony in the Kursaal on September 19, during a festival running from September 18 to 26.

The ceremony will be followed by the screening of Watts' new film 'The Housewife,' directed by Ben Shirinian and written by Alyssa Hill. Based on a true story and set in 1964, the film follows a young journalist who tracks down a man suspected of being a former Nazi officer secretly living in New York and befriends his wife in the process. The cast also includes Tye Sheridan, Luke Evans, Michael Imperioli and Lena Olin.

The Donostia Award has previously honored many of the film industry's most celebrated actors and directors for their body of work, and its presentation to Watts recognizes a career spanning decades across Hollywood and international cinema. The San Sebastián Film Festival, one of Europe's longest-running film festivals, is held annually in the Basque coastal city of San Sebastián.
