به گفته مقامات اندونزی، یک کشتی مسافربری بامداد یکشنبه پس از گرفتار شدن در هوای بسیار بد در دریای جاوه واژگون شد و دستکم شش نفر را کشت و حدود ۱۲۹ نفر را مفقود گذاشت. این کشتی به نام ویرگو ترانسپورت ۸، ۲۴۳ نفر را در مسیری از سورابایا در جاوه شرقی به بانجارماسین در استان کالیمانتان جنوبی در جزیره بورنئو حمل میکرد که حدود ساعت ۲ بامداد ارتباطش با مقامات قطع شد.
