Watafiti wa IBM na Chuo Kikuu cha Chicago walikamilisha hesabu ya kwantamu kwa kutumia qubiti 70 za kimantiki zilizosahihishwa makosa katika dakika 15 hivi, kazi isiyowezekana kwa mbinu kuu za uigaji wa kawaida, huku pia wakithibitisha usahihi wa matokeo.

IBM na watafiti katika Chuo Kikuu cha Chicago walitangaza tarehe 30 Julai kile wanachokieleza kuwa ni onyesho la ubora halisi wa kwantamu: hesabu iliyokwenda zaidi ya uwezo wa vitendo wa mbinu bora zaidi za uigaji wa kawaida huku pia ikitoa uhakika unaothibitishwa kwamba matokeo yalikuwa sahihi. Mafanikio hayo, yaliyoelezwa kwa kina katika karatasi iitwayo 'Sampling hard circuits with verifiably high fidelity,' yanashughulikia tatizo lililokuwa likisumbua madai ya awali ya ubora wa kwantamu, yaani kuthibitisha kwamba matokeo ni sahihi wakati hakuna kompyuta ya kawaida inayoweza kuyakagua kwa kurudia hesabu tu.
Timu ilitumia mbinu mpya ya kusahihisha makosa kusimba qubiti 70 za kimantiki, ikizilinda dhidi ya kelele ambayo kwa kawaida huharibu hesabu za kwantamu, na kuzitumia kutekeleza shughuli 2,415 za kimantiki za qubiti-mbili na 'milango T' 468 ya kimantiki, zote zikiwa vipimo vya jinsi mzunguko wa kwantamu ulivyo mgumu. Hesabu nzima ilikamilika ndani ya dakika 15 hivi, muda ambao watafiti wanasema ungehitaji kiasi kisichowezekana cha muda ukitumia mbinu kuu za kompyuta za kawaida. Watafiti wanasema mbinu ya uthibitishaji iliyotengenezwa pamoja na hesabu yenyewe, si tu kiwango kibichi cha qubiti zilizotumika, ndiyo inayotofautisha matokeo haya na madai ya awali ya ubora wa kwantamu yaliyokabiliwa na mashaka kuhusu kama matokeo yao yangeweza kuthibitishwa kwa kujitegemea.
